ESPANITA
BRANDING A BUDDING TEQUILA LINE
I worked closely with the founder of Espanita to conceptualize a bright, vibrant aesthetic that would boldly convey the specific flavors of each variety while adding refreshing accents to the set. We set out to create 1 hero shot for each variety once in an overhead, flat lay style shot, and then again in an across angled table top shot. In addition, we developed animations for each variety. Between setups, I would move around the set and capture additional shots they could use to create some variety. The plan was to set them up for a major social media and marketing push as the products launched.
My part of the process started with researching the provided inspiration shots, taking notes on specific cues and themes throughout and then developing sketches and a final shot list with the client.
THE SKETCHES
Pre-Production
I brought in a food stylist, prop stylist, and a digi-tech to join me on the shoot. We had two sets created, one for the overhead shots and another for the across shots. Colored backdrops were purchased in specific tones to coordinate with the bottle labels, fruit for each variety was brought by the food stylist as well as mixers, garnishes and ice, and the prop stylist offered us a variety of alternative picks, glassware, and accessories to compliment those brought by the client herself.
SHOOT DAY
We packed a lot into our single shoot day. With two sets running, it was critical that everyone was on the same page. Sketches were hung at each workspace so everyone knew what needed to go where. Working through one flavor at a time we got the hero bottle prepped and re-labeled for each variety, the set dressed and beautiful, snagged initial test shots to get Client input and approval and then it was time to fire away, get the hero shot, animate, and capture alternatives. Rinse repeat from the overhead flat lay shoot, to the across set all the way through all three varieties.
The end result is a complete library of imagery that can be used across a whole host of mediums to promote the new line of flavored tequilas.
